About the film
In late September 2003, a mass outbreak of a mutated Cordyceps fungus devastates the planet, infecting humans and turning them into aggressive hosts. On the first day of the pandemic, a construction worker named Joel experiences a heartbreaking loss. Twenty years later, he lives in a Boston quarantine zone under the strict control of the Federal Disaster Response Agency. Joel and his partner Tess are trying to secure a car battery to travel across the country in search of Joel's brother. When a wounded rebel leader offers a deal — deliver a 14-year-old orphan girl named Ellie to a resistance group outside the city — Joel and Tess agree, unaware that this mission will change everything.
