About the film
In October 1957, an event of historic magnitude took place — the Soviet Union launched Sputnik, the first artificial satellite in human history. The world would never be the same again. The launch deeply inspired a young boy named Homer Hickam from the small mining town of Coalwood, West Virginia. Captivated by the idea of space exploration, Homer decides to build his own rocket. With the help of three friends and a supportive teacher, he begins his journey toward the stars. But his father, a hardworking miner who sees his son’s future only in the mines, strongly opposes Homer’s dreams. Despite all obstacles, Homer is determined to make the impossible possible — to turn his dream into reality.
