Winter 2006. Feeling the need to change her life, Dr. Kate Forster leaves her unusual lake house in the suburbs of Illinois and starts a new job at a Chicago hospital. The only thing she regrets is parting with her beautiful, peaceful home with large windows that brought her comfort. On her way to the city, Kate leaves a letter in the mailbox for the next tenant. Soon, the house is taken over by Alex Wyler, a talented but disillusioned architect. However, he finds the house quite different from how Kate described it. For Alex, this place holds special meaning — it was built by his father, a famous architect who abandoned his family for his career. Determined to restore the home to its original beauty, Alex begins renovations. One day, a strange event leads Alex to find Kate’s letter in the mailbox and reply. Through their exchange of letters, they discover an impossible truth: Kate lives in 2006, while Alex is in 2004, and the mysterious mailbox somehow connects them. Through their correspondence, they share their deepest thoughts and emotions, and soon a tender love blossoms between them. But as their desire to meet grows stronger, they risk everything — even the chance of losing each other forever…
